STRESS AMONG OLD AGE PEOPLES :
Elder age 85 and older are more vulnerable to stress and depression than other age groups due to increasing stress with age resulting from declining health and dwindling social relationships. Diminish physiological resources with increasing age further contribute to increasing depression .
It seems obvious that in older age life becomes calmer because of retirement . But studies have shown , that especially older adults suffer from stress symptoms . For example because of volunteer involvement or taking care of grandchildren or dependent relatives .
In this article , I will share with you some causes of stresses among old age peoples . I will also share with you the factors that will help you in coping these stresses .
CAUSES OF STRESS FOR OLD AGE PEOPLES
What causes stress ? for many the usual culprits are the workplace , family issues , commuting or over scheduled activities .
But what causes stress for old peoples or seniors who are not working , commuting , over scheduled or involved with family ?
1) LONELINESS/ LOSS OF FRIENDS OR RELATIVES :
Loneliness and grief can be a big factor . As we age, we see friends pass on and family network become smaller .Many children live further from their parents than in previous decades , leaving the old generation more isolate from a readily available support network . The death of a loved ones can dramatically increase the stress on an elderly person .
2) HEALTHCARE COSTS OR PRESSURE TO PAY BILLS :
After retirement many seniors , rely on social security , pensions , and savings in order to support
themselves and pay bills .Many finds their resources are not adequate , especially if there is cancer or chronic illness to content with rising health care costs and pressure to pay bills on time can be a major source of stress on the elderly , who may be unable to earn more money as they age . Some seniors can keep a part time job , work as consultant , or create a home based business to keep busy and bring in extra income , but not all able to do so . Even for those who are , financial pressure can still cause a great deal of mental and physical stress that will build up until the bills are paid.
3) LOSS OF MEMORY :
Not only can the loss of memory cause stress and anxiety , but at the same time can lead to a memory decline .
In addition loss of memory may contribute to the other stresses . For instance , forgetting that a bill has already been paid and then paying twice could negatively effect finances and cause additional financial pressure
4)CHRONIC PAIN OR PHYSICAL DISCOMFORT :
Physical decline accompanies aging , but this decline can cause stress and anxiety . Loss of eyesight , mobility , dexterity and more can cause seniors to feel an increasing sense of anxiety as activities are set aside . Pain and physical discomfort activate a stress response in our bodies , so continual physical pain can have an overall health and well being as well as cause stress symptoms
5) RETIREMENT :
Retirement can sound nice , but when it finally comes around and you suddenly have too much free time on your hands , it can actually be very stressful . Most people like to feel productive and busy , and retirement is often a dramatic change from a full time schedule to no defined schedule all. If seniors are not prepared for , the stress of change may cause health issues

STRESS FOR PERSONS WITH DISABILITY:
Persons and families can coping with stress have good lives for themselves if they understand and accept their disability experience is unique , yet some features are common to almost eve

THREE MAIN CHALLENGES THAT FREQUENTLY CREATE STRESS
1)LANGUAGE :
Language must be chosen carefully because words empowers os dis-empowers individuals and groups . In particular , there is widespread agreement to use person first language to avoid defining individuals in terms of disability or disease . For example ,use term person with disability instead of a disabled person .

2) ISOLATION :
Many peoples and families experiences isolation and loneliness . Primarily this is because of negative
attitudes , like fear and hate , and separation from community life .

3) DEVELOPMENTAL TRANSITION :
Because the human experience changes from childhood to old ages , challenges and stress vary overtime.
ADJUSTMENT TO DISABILITY OR LOSS
Being born with or acquiring a disability is almost always upsetting . Disablement seems to re-frames hopes and add uncertainty and fear .
physiologists think that most individuals with disabilities experiences different ways of adjusting .
Three ways are sometimes called STATES , STAGES AND DYNAMICS.
Common adjustment dynamics include shock , partial acknowledgment , depression , anger and coping
shock:
shock is the main feeling upon first learning about disablement or getting discouraging news related to disability . Much of this shock is emotional .people may feel that " this is unreal " or "this can not b happening to me " or ask me "why me? "
people experiencing shock frequently display some denial , bargaining behavior , and fear related to facing disability realities and implications .
PARTIAL ACCEPTANCE :
Is where persons and families accept some of realities related to disability.
DEPRESSION AND ANGER:
Depression and anger are parallel ways of motions hidings. Persons in these stages feel threatened and chose to protect themselves . They turned anger inward on themselves and or outward on others . Depression and anger are hard on family members , especially person living together .

Anger is often a secondary emotion used to mask a true emotion like guilt or embarrassment
coping:
Is the stage of adjustment where persons recognize and accept certain limitations. Acceptance includes an emotional commitment to make the best possible life for themselves .
Most of individuals and families learn to cop effectively with disability and adapt to changes demanded by reality . Individuals and families who regularly practice coping almost always discover important new strength that improve quality of life.
Ways to minimize your disability's impact on your life :
It goes without saying that your disability has already changed your life in big way. It does not help to live in denial about that you are got limitations that make things more difficult . But with commitment , creativity and willingness to do things differently you can reduce the impact your disability has on your life.
1) BE YOUR OWN ADVOCATE:
You are your own est advocate as you negotiate the challenges of life with a disability , including at work and in health care system .Knowledge is power , so educate yourself about your rights and resources available at you. As you take changes , you will also start to feel less helpless and more empowered .
2) TAKES ADVANTAGES OF THINGS YOU CAN DO :
While you may not be able to changes your disability , you can reduces its impact on your daily life by seeking and embarrassing whatever adaptive technologies and tools are available . If you need a device such as a prosthetic , a white cane , or wheel chair to make your life easier , then use it . Try to let go of any embarrassment or fear of stigma . You are not defining by the aids you us .
3) SET REALISTIC GOALS AND BE PATIENT
A disability forces you to learn new sills and strategies . You may also have to relearn simple things you used to ta for granted . It can be a frustrating process and it's only natural to want to such things and get back to functioning as quickly as possible . But it's important to stay realistic setting overly aggressive goals can actually lead to set back and discouragement . Be patient with yourself . Every small steps forward counts , eventually you will get there.
Persons with disability are facing many stresses in their lives , some stresses are people related and some stresses are environmental related . The only aim to write this article is just to help disable people who can not walk , who can not write , who can not run , who can not see , who can not speak but they are living around us .
Some persons with disability are empowered and living normal life , but at the same time many of disable persons are facing stresses . I want to convey a message to them " You all are more stronger than a normal person , you can do all things around you just be brave do not lose your hopes , your struggles and your efforts , one day you will be able to do all things which you want "

Every marriage faces challenges . Infact , most of the strongest couples you know are probably the one who have endured the most challenges together .Early days in marriage brings rest , but it is the diffculty days that bring growth .

STRESS AND DEPRESSION IN THE LIFE OF STUDENTS.
STRESS AND DEPRESSION IN THE LIFE OF STUDENTS .
Stress is the major disorder among the students.No matter in which class they are studying . I observed from the review of different research articles ,that as the students are proceeding in higher classes they are taking more stress and finally what will be result ? simply they are depressing themselves .
LOCATION WHERE THIS RESEARCH DONE :
This research was done in community health sciences department , AGHA KHAN UNIVERSITY (AKU),KARACHI ,PAKISTAN .
WHAT WAS THE ABSTRACT ?
Asess the perception of stress among medical students in pakistan .
WHAT WAS THE METHDOLOGY OR STUDY USED ?
A cross sectional using a semi structural self administered questionnaire was carried out over four weeks, using a small sample of students of all categories and classes of a medical college .
RESULT /WHAT THEY FOUND?
A total 264 students out of 300
(88 percent ) filled in the questionnaire . Inability to cope , helpless, increased, physcological pressure, mental tension , and too much workload are "stress factor "for students .A cosiderably majority >90 % think that they have been stressed at one time or another .94 % of males have experienced stress.
The senior students of fourth and final year feel more stress (95%and 98%) .Low mood inability to cope with stress, loss of temper is the most common symptoms .
Females report more symptoms . Academic and exams are most powerful stressors .Sports , music , hanging out with friends ,sleeping or going into isolation are various coping mechansim.Stress can effect the academic performance .If needed , students prefer to talk to a peer . they demand more recreational activities on campus , revised shedule of academics and exa,s ,better counselling facilities and improvement in students teachers relationship .
"TEACHER SHOULD SUPPORT STUDENTS AND STUDENTS SHOULD RESPECT THEIR TEACHERS.
WHAT THEY CONCLUED?
The prevalence of perceived stress seems to be high among medical students ,which tends to effect not only their academic performances but also all aspects of health .STRESS AND DEPRESSION AMONG THE STUDENTS OF KOREA .
Suicide rates in KOREA are high just because of depression . Most of the students in KOREA ,you will find having stressful academic life .This stress makes them depressed and they start thinking about suicide .Yes , as a student you should take stress about your studies but too much stress is not good for your health as well as it will distrub your academic life
A RESEARCH MADE ON THE STUDENTS OF EAST ASIA (MAJORITY ON KOREAN STUDENTS )
INTRODUCTION:
Suicide is one of the three leading causes of death for adolescents and young adults world wide .In ASIAN COUNTRIES like HONGKONG,TAIWAN and SINGAPORE . Suicide is rare in childern but in KOREA which is locate in EAST ASIA .The suicide rates are high among the youth between 10 to 14 years of age ,and 15 to 24 years age group , their is a dramatic increase in absloute number . Hence, suicide in childern and adolscents is also concern in ASIAN countries
THIS GRAPH IS SHOWING SUICIDE RATES IN SOUTH KOREA .
ACADEMIC STRESS AND SUICIDAL IDEATION:
The association between school or academic stressors and suicide ideation among adolescents has been well documented in several research studies .In their studies they show that number of suicide cases in year usually peaked during examination a high level of stress in school .
some researchers have argued that in EAST ASIAN countries like KOREA this academic stress suicidal ideation link among adolescents could possibly be even stronger given the familial and cultural demands for academic excellence . Therefore,childern are socialized from young to be hypersensitive to the judgment of others ,specially significant other such as parents or teachers .
JON ET ALL examined factors contributing to suicidal behaviour in 9886 high KOREAN SCHOOL adolescents and found that students who reported feeling a high level of stress regarding academic performance and higher education were more like to have serious thoughts about suicide than those students who didnot experience academic stress.
DEPRESSION AND SUICIDE IDEATION :
Depression is frequently associated with suicidal ideation and suicidal behaviour in adolescents the depression suicidal ideation link has also been documented in research studies conducted with ASIAN adolescents .
The sample size of more than 9000 KOREAN HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS ,JOUN ET AL found depression to be the strongest and more cosistent predictor of suicidal behaviour , students who had high scores on depression were5.31 times more likely to report Suicidal ideas and 3 .19 times more likely to attempt suicide , as compared to those with low scores .
PREDICTIONS:
The research reviewed suggests that academic stress is positively associated with adolescents depression and with suicidal

INTRODUCTION
As a student , I had faced many stresses in my life specially ,
when I started my journey from ninth class . Now Iam a student of DOCTOR OF PHYSICAL THERAPY (DPT) .Belive me as Iam growing up ,entering in higher classes and coming in contact with more peoples ,stress ,anxiety and depression is becoming more and more . why this is happening ? why we can not stop ourselves from stress ? why this stress is making us more and more agressive? why youngsters are commiting sucide just beacuse of this stress?
I will try my best to expose the reasons behind these questions .
WHY IAM WRITING THIS BLOG?
The only aim to write this blog is to give you people solutions and ways by which you can keep yourself far away from stress .
when you will keep yourself far from stress you will have a sress free and happy life .

STRESS when people describing the term stress they use words like worry , anxiety, burden, disquiet,dread, hardship,hassle , nervousness,strain,

STRESS IS A DISTRESS Basically, stress is a word orginate from distress . Distress ia a mediate word for pain , torture and starvation.
Giving someone pain either it is
physicaly or mentally will lead to stress. same for torture and starvation.
from my observations , it can be state that MENTAL PAIN WILL GIVE YOU MORE STRESS THAN PHYSICAL PAIN .

He defined stress as : STRESS IS A PRECEPTION
PERCEPTION IS THE DEMAND
THAT ARE IMPOSED ON US

Physcologically , depression can be define as a mood disorder
it may be described as a feeling or sadness,loss,or anger that interfere with persons daily activities .

STRESS CAUSES DEPRESSION :
As I mentioned above that stress in not a bad thing but when it exceeds it will become worse for you .
I must say, too much stress or in other words chronic stress may lead to major depression in susceptible people.

8.1 percent of AMERICAN adults from age 20 and more than 20 had depression .
STRESS EITHER IT IS ACUTE OR CHRONIC LEAD TO DEPRESSION :
Stress wether chronic such as you are stressfull about taking care of your parent with ALZHEIMERS , or suppose you are having a child with PARKINSONS DISEASE and you are worried about him , you are taking stress this stress will starts slowly but if you are not stopping yourself from taking stress it will now make you depress.
stress if it is acute , such as losing a job , or the death of a loved one can lead to major depression .
This is all about my first article about stress and depression .The main motto behind this artice is just make you people know about
stress and depression . Remember if you have any type of stress either it is acute or chronic ,just cope with it otherwise it will make you depress .I had mentioned in my article that stress is cause of depression , from this you can suggest that stress is more easy to cope than the depression .
